The Japanese bushido practiced loyalty to an extreme, as they were expected to kill themselves if they failed their daimyo, or shogun in battle. Another element that was important in bushido is education, which was contrary to European chivalry. In bushido, the elements of kindness, courage in battle, and supporting of the arts were also important. What are the main elements of European chivalry? Like Japanese bushido, loyalty to vassals, or lords, was an expectation. Unlike Japanese bushido, defense of the church was a value that knights held in high regard. European chivalry also included courage in battle, championing a lady, and generosity towards the poor, or feeble. Which of the elements of bushido and chivalry would work well for a code of chivalry in today’s world? Explain. I think that generosity towards the poor would be a great addition, if there was a code of chivalry today. I also think that the respect for women that European knights displayed would
