Emily Dyba Sexual Consent and Masculine Norms The study Exploring Sexual Consent and Hostile Masculine Norms Using the Theory of Planned Behavior was conducted by Christina Hermann, Christopher T. H. Liang, and Brooke E. DeSipio. On page 4, the researchers explain how they obtained their demographic and the procedure required for the experiment. The study took a random sample of 576 college students from a private university in the Northeastern United States, but narrowed down the sample to only 144 college men (Hermann, Liang, and Brooke p. 4). The purpose of this study was to understand how college men’s conformity to traditional masculine norms affects their willingness, attitudes, and intention to engage in consensual sex while also hoping to further inform college campuses of the results to create programs better aimed at the reduction of sexual assault. The researchers conducted the experiment by giving participants a web link that had a survey. No incentives were provided for the survey. There were email reminders for participants
