Assignment 2.2: Training Report Department: Environmental Safety Department Date: October 26, 2017 Goals According to the United States Environmental Protection Agency, there are approximately 558,000 underground storage tanks (USTs) nationwide. These USTs contains or store hazardous chemicals and substance such as petroleum and oils. Any leaks from these USTs can affect our groundwater source that is why it is very important to have appropriate and adequate maintain ace of underground storage tanks regularly to prevent leaks and contaminations. In this report, I will discuss the possible impacts of inappropriate storing of hazardous and flammable materials. I will also provide some ways on how to prevent incidents and accidents within the area of the storage facility. Target Population Some of the factors need to be considered by the industrial companies before storing hazardous or flammable chemicals are: Assessing the quantity of the substance need to be stored, Assessing how long the substance or chemicals will be stored, Identify the stability and toxicity of the substance, Check the state and condition of the containers, Check the state of the labels of the containers, and Consider several types of spill containment systems, (Business Queensland). On the other hand, there are also several things need to be considered when storing hazardous substance safely these are: Ensuring safe location, design, and installation, Separating the
