Exam 1 Review Information from the book, lectures, and handouts are all fair game. You are responsible for all information from lecture through 2/28. The exam format will consist of a mix of multiple choice, matching, short answer, and 1 or 2 essay questions. The exam will be held in BUR 220 on Thursday Mar. 6 th . I will hold a review session on Tuesday during class. The review session will not be a formal presentation. I will go over previous quizzes, give you a few exercises, and go over certain concepts. The rest of the review will be mainly questions and answer session – you may bring any questions you have. You should be able to answer the following questions thoroughly: ± What is language? What properties does a language have? What components are included in the study of language? ± Why do we study child language development? How do we study child language development? Who do we study? ± What methods are generally used to study language development? What are the strengths and weaknesses of these methods? ± Be familiar with the problems entailed in language sampling. ± Be familiar with the three stages of the development of intentionality ± List anatomical changes from infant to adulthood that support speech. ± Be familiar with the kinds of consonants and vowels that are frequent in infant
