The Battle of Stalingrad – The Battle of Stalingrad occurred between August 1942 to February 1943. During the occurrence of the battle, the Red Army resisted Germany from attempting to take their cities. The city had major damages from the German artillery and firepower but the Germans failed to dislodge the defenders. This battle is important because the total tragic eventsled up to two million people suffering. The battle had a large impact on families and the country. The D-Day Invasion (Operation Overlord) – The D-Day Invasion occurred on June 6th, 1944. This event showed importance as it was the largest operation. The operation included more than five thousand ships that landed Allied troops on the coastline of Normandy. Another thousands of troops contributed by being in an airborne assault.
