Egg Drop Challenge Task: Design a device that will protect a raw egg dropped from a 2-story bridge (6.25 m). Materials: 1. Stuffed pig 2. rubber bands 3. cardboard parachute 4. string 5. styrofoam Abstract: With the given restrictions taken into consideration, a device was designed to protect a raw egg from breaking after falling about 6.25 meters. The restrictions include not tampering or modifying the egg in anyway and avoiding the use of plastic sheets to create drag. The device created weighed a little less than 200 grams without the raw egg. Some factors in the design that were considered were what materials created the most drag, how windy it was the day of the actual egg drop, how much cushioning was really needed for shock-absorption, and what objects caused extra unnecessary weight.
