For far too long woman have been living in the shadow of men all over the world. Having to always come second to men whether it be in the world of work, parliament, homes or church. Women have always fought for their freedom from 1964. “It has been 57 years since the woman suffrage movement, yet women are still fighting for rights in the Bahamas. Not only are our rights protected under Chapter III of the Bahamian Constitution, but also the United Nation Declaration of Human Rights” [Last]. As Bahamians we are all born free and equal. Everyone is entitled to these rights male or female. No one has the power to take away any of our rights. It was not until Mary Ingraham and her team founded the Women’s Suffrage Movement.
