Mrs. Anthyia Rolle ENGW 300 Ivy Higgins Topic: The Causes of Crime in the Bahamas Crime and bad lives are the measure of a state’s failure, all crime in the end is the crime of the community [Wel05]. We all can agree that crime is a serious problem in our country and insist that draconian measures be taken to lift this dark criminal specter that covers our land[Boo12]. Moreover “we are reaping the rewards of our own inabilities, inattentiveness, incompetence and indiscipline” [Smi13]. Crime is defined as an action or omission, which constitutes an offence and is punishable by law [Oxf] The causes of crime has been a constant menace to society. From petty theft to robbery with violence, crime continues to be a migraine to the government of the day. The rise in crime on the islands are disturbing, and testament of the myriad of challenges that face society. The need to overcome the majority of these problems has led the government into seeking solutions to a problem of which they do not know the causes. All through the Bahamas, the causes of
