Diagnostic Assessment Scales 1. Background In several areas of psychopathology diagnostics there have been several conflicts in determination of diagnosis using various scales for determining disorders of personality as well as clinical (that is more Axis I) diagnoses. Thee have been several questions posed regarding the validity of diagnostic testing such as the Millon Multi-axial Inventroy III (MCMI-III ™). This and several other tests have been used to determine psychopathology from not only the point of view of the patient but family members and others close to them. With each new version of the Diagnostics and Statistical Manual(DSM-IV), currently in its fourth revision many questions have been raised about the continued use of these heavily revised assessments for determining pathology.
