SOUTHWEST TEXAS JUNIOR COLLEGE ASSOCIATE DEGREE NURSING PROGRAM Student Name: _Graciela Perez____ Clinical Site/Faculty: FDRMC__Date:11/08/17____ Concept Based Clinical Learning Activity: NUTRITION RNSG 1161 Clinical I Pick a patient on the unit to “investigate” for this learning activity. It is best to pick patients that require special diets with diseases that affect metabolism and nitrogen balance. Patients diagnosed with one of the presented exemplars (iron deficiency anemia, dysphagia, obesity, malnutrition), patients with a chronic disease (ex. diabetes or renal failure), patients with recent change in weight patterns, pregnant patients, and patients with therapeutic diets are some good choices for this activity. LEVEL I Without knowing anything about the patients selected except their diagnoses, answer the following questions. Investigate the patient’s chart to help you answer the questions. 1. What nutrition imbalance do you anticipate finding based on a brief review of patient data in the chart? Protein Malnutrition. The patient presents Chronic Renal Failure, and Acute Pyelonephritis 2. Why do you believe these imbalances are present? Conditions affect the kidneys where Proteins are absorbed 3. How do these imbalances relate to the admitting diagnoses? Patients with renal failure are at risk of protein deficit 4. How does this nutrition imbalance impact the patient’s overall wellbeing?

As a current student on this bumpy collegiate pathway, I stumbled upon Course Hero, where I can find study resources for nearly all my courses, get online help from tutors 24/7, and even share my old projects, papers, and lecture notes with other students.

The ability to access any university’s resources through Course Hero proved invaluable in my case. I was behind on Tulane coursework and actually used UCLA’s materials to help me move forward and get everything together on time.
