Síndromes y enfermedades genéticas Cariotipo número 2 Síndrome de Patau El síndrome de Patau, también conocido como trisomía 13, es un desorden genético producido por una irregularidad en el material genético del cromosoma 13. Es decir, un cromosoma tiene dos copias normales, pero en este caso tiene tres copias en el cromosoma antes mencionado. Esto puede variar ya que este trastorno puede apareces en forma total, por mosaicismo o aparcición parcial en las células. Este desorden afecta a un recién nacido de cada diez mil. Mayormente no es hereditario. Estos pacientes presentan un cuadro clínico de una alta gama de síntomas. Esto es porque esa inestabilidad genética se produce en el desarrollo del embrión. Estos síntomas son: Paladar hendido o Labio Leporino Manos empuñadas Holoprosencefalia u ojos muy juntos o un solo ojo Tono muscular disminuido
