Shannon Cogbill History 1111 10 June 5, 2017 Thought Piece #1 When word had spread of a land free of what nations had recognized as a civilization or of what was recognized as a human. Many countries took interest in the subject. Each of the locations with which colonists emerged from to come to what is now the Unites States of America had their own individual ways of thought and had different goals in mind, all with a religious, as well as a business mindset at hand. Firstly, The Spanish came to America for Gold, Glory, and God. Having colonized previously they had a strategy to their methods. They intended to use the native people as slaves for their labor. They were a large armed force, which was used to take over the areas in which they colonized as well as to convert the natives to the Catholic views in which they held. They accepted no less than complete conversion in the beginning, until they decided to no longer waste time or effort on the matter. Their main focus was on the southern part of America and Mexico.
