Module AD (Chapter 1): In the DWT text J,K, L, M,N, O, P, Q from chapter 1 on pp 38-39. Exercise J: Investigate IBM’s Rational Unified Process (RUP) on the Web. RUP is a commercial version that extends aspects of the Unified Process. Write a brief memo describing how it is related to the Unified Process as described in this chapter. (Hint: A good website with which to begin is .) IBM’s RUP is an iterative software development process framework. The Unified Process guides when and how to use the various UML techniques for object-oriented analysis and design. The Unified Process is a use-case driven, architecture-centric, and iterative and incremental two- dimensional systems developed process described by a set of phases and workflows and provides the behavior support of developing and information system. RUP is a software engineering process aimed at guiding software development organizations in their endeavors. RUP and Unified Process are alike in the way of using an object-oriented approach, the architecture is two-dimensional, and both are iterative processes that require feedback. Exercise K: Suppose you are a project manager who typically has been using a waterfall development-based methodology on a large and complex project. Your manager has just read the latest article in Computerworld that advocates replacing this methodology with the Unified Process and comes to you requesting you to switch. What do you say?
