TITLE OF PAPER2In our lives we will be a part of many disagreements and arguments which are typically called conflicts. These can happen at any age, personally and professionally as we grow and learn in life. Some conflicts will be easier to handle then others which is why at times, bringing in an outside third party can help the conflict become more amicable. This would be considered part ofan arbitration and mediation process in order to help the individuals reach a compromising solution. In this paper I will attempt to define the purpose , role and overall effectiveness mediation and arbitration plays in conflict situations. The mediation process is nothing more than a negotiation tactic used to help resolve a conflict between two or more parties. This process requires a third party or additional impartial individualto help with the conflict resolution. “ Mediators are trained to facilitate communication by encouraging cooperation and discouraging competion between the parties” (Cahn & Abigail , 2014 p. 252). This impartial individual will help the conflicting parties find a common ground that will make everyone involved happy to end the conflict as quckly as possible. A mediator’s role is to peacefully explain the options once the problems are thoroughly discussed and understand by everyone involved then hopefully have the parties agree on a solution. The book said that mediatior will assist all the parties involved in the conflict through any discrepancies they may have with one another and then create a contracted agreement that everyone agrees to.
