Part 1 The Critique on Three Sisters Three Sisters, is an exceptional play written, by Anton Chekhov, around the 1900s with its first production in 1901. In my opinion ,you can describe the play as decline of the aristocrats, where there is a search for the meaning of this world. But to put it simply, Chekhov introduces to us three Prozorov sisters: Olga, Masha and Irina, and their only brother, Andrey. The Prozorov siblings were all well refined and had a cultured youth, but their complaints were that they were living in a “small and lifeless” town for 11 yrs. They await to return to Moscow, where they could begin living their “good life”, after their father Colonel Prozorov’s death . The themes of the play are visible from the beginning, such as the Dissatisfaction, Dreams, Hopes, Plans and Love, also Society and Class. All of these were portrayed by the characters in the very first few minutes into the show. I feel that the play fulfilled its purpose by
