Grace Li Psychological Review Virginia Woolf, in The Hours , is based on the biography of the actual Virginia Woolf, who was a renowned writer that lived at the beginning of the twentieth century. Her writing has an interesting impressionistic flow of human thought. Virginia Woolf’s struggles with a bipolar disorder of which she is aware of. Virginia is constantly struggling with nervous breakdowns. She fights to keep the “shadow in the mirror,” the pounding headaches, and the voices in her head at bay. Virginia uses writing as a way of channeling her energy and emotion
