Running head: A DAY IN MY LIFE2IntroductionIndividuals come from unique backgrounds, races, and ethnicities within a community,sharing cultural and societal beliefs. Every individual has an essential role within the community,which forms our society. Each morning, I wake up at the same time with my husband andchildren prepare breakfast, and get ready for our day. As a mother of three, I go to the gym in theearly morning, take my son to preschool, interact with my children, and participate in a variety ofsocial committees. My role within my family is to make sure that the house is clean, meals areprepared and cleaned up afterwards, and to take care of the daily essentials for my husband andchildren. Each day is a regular monotonous routine, as we are a military family and must adhereto a schedule. It is significant to identify the sociological perspective when looking at our dailyroutine, and being able to identify the social issues, theories and concepts through a sociologicallens. Using a sociological imagination allows one to recognize the elements of social structureand social interaction in one’s life; as there is a mutual relationship between society andindividual behavioral patterns.Field Log:6:30 am: Wake up, shower, wake children up, make breakfast, eat breakfast, interact with family.Personal hygiene, common courtesy, family norm, gender roles7:55: Leave for the gym for Zumba class, significant traffic in the mornings.Social norm: Following rules of the road8:05: Arrive at the gym. People are rushing around signing in and getting ready to begin class.Social structure9:15: Finish Zumba class, take a shower and head home.
