Cornell Notes Page 1 Title: Introduction: The Nature of  Science and Physics  Page Numbers: 5-30 Reduce and then  Recite Questions/Main  Ideas: Date: 12 Jan 2017 Class: Applied Physics Score: Record for Review Notes:  Define “Principle”  and “law”. Then  explain the  difference between  the two terms.  A principle is defined as a fundamental,  primary, or generally law or truth from which  others are derived. A Law is defined as a  description, using concise language or a  mathematical formula of which is supported by  scientific evidence and repeated experiments.  The difference lies in that a principle is a  general foundational definition of which further laws of the respective field can be built upon.  One is broad in its coverage while the other is  direct.    Identify and explain the differences in  the fundamental  units.
