L AB O BJECTIVES ! Students will be able to iden9fy the parts and describe appropriate use of a compound microscope ! Students will know the proper techniques regarding the transport, use and storage of the microscope ! Students will gain experience using the microscope for analysis of histological sec9ons ! Students will be able to recall the structures and understand the func9ons of the 4 basic types of 9ssues ! Students will be able to recall the structures and understand the func9ons of the 7 types of epithelial 9ssues ! Students will be able to iden9fy 9ssue types from real 9ssue slides.

T HE C OMPOUND M ICROSCOPE ! Why is this important? ! The study of anatomy at the 9ssue level requires specialized equipment and cannot be done with the naked eye ! This makes the compound microscope vitally important in the study of anatomy because to gain a full apprecia9on of gross anatomy, it helps to have a clear picture of the structural organiza9on of our body’s organs at the level of 9ssue
