Portfolio Report:
On Monday, August 31, I purchased 300 shares of Apple stock at the price of $112.76
per share. On the same date, I also purchased 600 shares of Netflix stock at the price of $115.03
per share. I invested $33,828 in Apple and $69,018 in Netflix. The initial value of my portfolio
was $102,846.
On Monday, December 7, Apple closed at $118.28 a share and Netflix closed at $125.36
a share. I closed out my account at $110,700. I made $7,854 on my initial investment. From
August 31, 2015 to December 7, 2015, Apple’s stock price rose 4.9% and Netflix’s stock price
rose 8.98%. During this same timeframe Dow Jones’ stock rose 7.65%, NASDAQ’s rose 6.81%
and the S&P 500’s rose 5.32%. Throughout the 14 weeks in which I was invested in both Apple
and Netflix, both stocks increased in value as well as all 3 stock indices.
