SUMMARY Besides being one of the oldest baseball teams in the country, the San Francisco Giants are also one of the most successful. The Giants as a sports team have won more games than any other professional sports organization in North America and they hold two records of distinction in the National baseball league, the most national league pennants and the most appearances in the world series. Yes, the Giants are a very successful sports organization, but they are also a very successful business. In the information age, businesses can thrive, or decline based on how they have harnessed information systems. The San Francisco Giants were the first baseball team to effectively utilize new technology to grow the success of their business and their team. The Giants used technology to improve player performance to gain a competitive edge. They also used technology to improve the performance of the business to bolster revenue. SUPPORT The San Francisco Giants are a Major League Baseball Team that are in San Francisco, California. The Giants were founded in New York and then later moved to San Francisco in 1958. Winning the World Series in 2014 allowed them to be the champions of the National and Major league baseball teams. 2014 brought the San Francisco Giants its 10 th season in the Major League of baseball for the 57 th time since the move from New York to San Francisco. With all the success that they have had the Giants are on the verge of a baseball dynasty with the winning of 2 titles in three years with a young team. With an applied mix of technology

and baseball this helped both the baseball and business side of the team. With no know marketing side to this one might simply call it the Techball. With the opening of the first social media café at the home town park in 2013 just beyond the center field of the parks wall. Within this unique shop fans can sip coffee while sitting next to an interactive board that has live tweets and Instagram photos. With a Wi-Fi network that continues to get faster every year since the opening of the park in 2000 this continues to allow the team and the park to grow by also allowing the fans a new option with ticketing that will allow for seat upgrades during the game. Looking at the economic side the Giants can not compete with the larger clubs like the Yankees and the Dodgers with continue to be flush with cash from major TV contracts. The big boys with in baseball typically generate about 100 Million more per season with cable TV sales fees.
