EA Justification PaperIFSM 311
The purpose of this paper is to justify why implementing an enterprise architecture (EA) is the best solution for the Virginia Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV), and their CSI redesign initiative. An enterprise architecture is the blueprint for anorganization’s ever-changing goals. It includes the interrelationship of information technology and all the functional areas of the organization. For the enterprise architecture to be effective it must make sure all areas are working towards one common goal. The following paragraphs will give examples of how implementing an EA program will benefit the Virginia DMV. Also included are examples of how other organizations benefited from implementing an EA program (Chief information officer council 2001).Implementing an EA program will be best for Virginia DMV because it will streamline the multiple services the DMV provides. An EA will enhance and make more proficient use of automated systems by incorporating technological developments and the use of automated solutions. Since the purpose of the CSI redesign initiative is to transform the DMV’s fragmented processes into one modernized system, implementing an EA will make the process more organized and efficient.Benefits include:2
one modernized system that is responsive to the ever-changing needs relating to internal security, homeland security, legislative mandates, and customer relationship management.
