(2) Review, edit, spell check and proof-read your responses. (3) Limit your responses to two pages. 1. Where is the setting for the story? What is the time period? The setting of this story took place in the ancient region where the Alps thrust down into the province. I assume the time period was roughly somewhere around the early 1900s due to the fact that it mentions being 40 years ago. He also mentioned how the War of 1914 was the next year but it is a certain amount over overlapping time. 2. Describe the man who planted trees in detail. I think the man who planted trees was seen to be very in touch with his natural settings. He took in the details around him and explained them in his own way to make it clear that he was very educated with the topic. He had traveled for a long time observing the nature around him as well as reflecting on it. He would go around to many different areas and plant hundreds and thousands of trees. I think he took pleasure in planting the trees because he was helping the community grow to replace some of the sadness inside him from losing his only son and wife. Even though they were gone, there was a paragraph that talked about how he did not worry about creation when it came in a chain reaction. Even though the brooks had been dry, he remained calm, even though at one point, the brooks were filled with water. He seemed to be considerate and
