ASE 211 Homework 4 Due: In class, Wednesday, Febuary 16th. 1. Solve (by hand) A x = b where A = 4 - 1 2 - 7 - 5 - 4 2 . 5 2 - 6 . 5 and B = 1 2 3 using Gauss elimination with the row pivoting strategy described in class. Check that A x = b 2. Compute (by hand),the LU factorization of above(without row pivot- ing). Solve for x using the following steps: Ly = b Ux = y Check your answer. 3. This problem should be done in matlab. Consider the truss in problem A3.4 . Using the matlab lu function, compute the LU = PA factor- ization of the matrix. The lu function can be invoked as follows:
