ACTION DRAFT 2 Draft Action Research Plan Area of Focus Statement The purpose of this study is to verify by research and analysis if Facebook can effectively be used as an eLearning tool. The main focus is to see if there would be a substantial increase in learning, by the students, if Facebook was used as an eLearning tool to supplement instruction. Problem – Interest My interest began after watching a video on Dr. Howard Gardner in the Teaching & Learning with Technology class. I became fascinated with Dr. Gardner’s theory on Multiple Intelligences. I do believe that each student learns in a different manner. Some are just visual, some learn better with audio, some with both. So I thought that using Facebook as an eLearning tool would possibly be a great idea. The students would have interaction with teachers in almost real time, parents could monitor progress and learning, and students have the opportunity to ask questions and collaborate. I believe it would also help some students with their writing skills. Some students also are very shy and in a classic classroom setting, they may be too shy to participate. On a platform like Facebook, they do not have to talk in front of anyone, and are never face-to-face, so they may open up more, which in turn helps them to learn better. Facebook can also give them the opportunity to learn visually and with audio if videos are posted. This platform could also help those with learning disabilities as well.

There is no such gifted program at this school, and though he did achieve all A’s, he does get kind of bored with the curriculum at times. Secondly, my Daughter has done great in all areas except for Math. With seeing these two
