Latif1Shiva LatifiThinking like a mountainENG160, CRN: 1435618 January 2018Thinking like a mountain is a phrase used by Aldo Leopold in his book called A Sand County Almanac. He was born on January 11,1887 in Burlington, Iowa. He was an ecologist and environmentalism who served as a professor at university of Wisconsin and published several books during his life time. His well-known book, A Sand County Almanac was published by Oxford university press on 1949, and he passed away on April 21, 1949 in Baraboo, Wisconsin. In this reading assignment, the author refers to Henry David Thoreau’s statement: “In wildness isthe salvation of the world” which is relevant and supportive to his discussion and opinion about wildness. Henry David Thoreau was a poet, philosopher and author who lived before Leopold from July12, 1817 to May 6, 1862. They both are important naturalists who had shared a same view about preserving the wildness.
