Kyle Colyn Professor De Smith Core 180 10-18-16 Alyoshka( the Baptist) Pg 4= Shukhov’s neighbor Pg 20= The Baptist was reading the gospels not just to himself, but almost aloud. The book had never been found because he hid it in the wall very well. Pg 35= He only lived on his ration. Pg 41= He was praying. Pg 50= He brought coal. Pg 76= He is bringing bricks to Shukhov. Pg 79= He does as he’s told and works faster. Pg 86= receiving instructions from Shukhov Pg 128= He saw the captain hiding the steel he was going to use as a weapon. Pg 139= conversation with Shukhov and Shukhov responds top Alyoshka by saying he does not pray because either his prayers don’t get to God or they come back rejected. Pg 140= Alyoshka says not to pray for things of this earth but for the spirit to take evil away from us. Pg 141= continued conversations with Shukhov about prayer. Pg 144= He is given a cookie by Shukhov. Alyoshka is a very religious man and he is referred to as the Baptist by many throughout the camp.
