Greetings Professor and Class,What are the barriers to APN practice identified in the article? Describe these barriers in your own words.Three main barriers discussed in this article are legislative policies, physicians and 3rdparty payment policies. The problem with legislative policies is that there isn’t a consensus among all 50 states on what the APN’s scope of practice consists of and if they can practice independently. Physicians on make a point that nurses do not have he advanced education and knowledge as they do and push back on legislation that allows APN’s to practice to their utmostabilities and potential. A lot of this is due to their lack of knowledge regarding an APN’s scope of practice and training. Some insurance companies / 3rdparty payers continue to hinder the advancement of the APN due to their antiquated belief that nurses are not revenue generators. Thus, requiring a Physician to be the primary regarding the treatment and payment thereof. Twoother barriers discussed was the limitations to continuity of care that may negatively affect patient outcomes and job satisfaction. What are your impression of the barriers to APN Practice? (Are you surprised by these barriers? Is this new information to you? Have you ever been involved at the legislative level in nursing? Do these barriers concern you or motivate you toward becoming an APN?)I don’t’ find these barriers surprising at all. I think that much of this is due to old money
