A Cradle Song CommentaryAnalysis: This poem is tells the story of a mother singing a lullaby to her child. She sings for himto sleep and asks that nothing disturbs her baby and that it is watched over. The mother also asks for sleep for the baby while she weeps for him. She continues by comparing her baby to Jesus, and explains how Jesus wept for all when he was an infant. Jesus’s smiles are also reflected through the babies smiles making peace between heaven and earth. It represents the hardships of mothers and their constant attempts to shield their young from the real world, whilealso finding comfort in the child itself. Commentary: The soft tone of the poem enhances the lighthearted and hopeful content within but grabs your attention at the end of every line. The authors creates the flow of the poem usinga mixture of consonant andassonant rhymes. In the first three stanzas, as well as in stanzas five
