Article Critique Abstract The role of leadership in the school setting comes with a great deal of responsibility among many other traits. This position can be very difficult and overwhelming if you are not prepared to handle the daily duties and also the stress that sometimes comes with the job. Article Critique Gunslinger School Administrators: Non Traditional Leadership in Urban School Systems in the United States In this article the authors Peter K. Eisinger and Richard C. Hula write about the administrators that are in charge of schools in the Urban School systems and the approach that they take to administration which is referred to the gunslinger model. The gunslinger model is used when you have an administration that is in place in the public school system that is at odds with each other and there is not a sense of continuity and teamwork. With the gunslinger model you see new administration come in and do a sort of clean sweep of employees and they go into implementing a new administration that will help the state of the school system instead of further hurt them. The gunslinger model also pushes for intellectual openness for example the hiring of teachers who are non-traditional rather than the teachers who are content based. Within the article the authors also detail how the gunslinger method achieves goals and great results as well as it being goal oriented.
