A. In America, the African American experience is often thought of as singular, however there is a two-fold experience for an African American trying to embrace the American culture and the black heritage. Body 2) The African American history as a black man is characterized as “I” in Langston Hughes poem “The negro speaks of a river”. a) In Langston Hughes poem he uses metaphor to describe the journey of the black man. i) For example, how the African American went through the journey of slavery to freedom ii) For example, how the African American created their own sub-culture to retain a deep connection with their roots.
