Lab Objective To determine the mass of the air glider by using Newton’s 2 nd Law. Physical Principles 1. m = F a 2. a = 2 d t 2 3. F = am Procedure 1. Make sure that the photogates are spaced 45-65 cm away from each other. 2. Attach a string to m 1 (air glider). 3. The other end of the string is attached to a hanger. 4. Have the air glider pass both photogates. 5. If the hanger hits the ground before passing the second photogate, then move the second photogate closer to the first photogate. 6. Measure the distance between the photogate. 7. Measure the mass of air glider with the flag. 8. Turn the air supply on.
