Textbook Citations (1) I only want paraphrasing! ( aka: put in your own words!!) Citation at end of sentence: end of sentence (As cited by Jones, Smith, & Brown, 2009). As cited by is used because this textbook took it from someone else. Only last names of all authors from reference/source. Between the second to last and last name, place an & sign . After the last author’s name type a comma and the year source was published . Entire citation is enclosed in parentheses Period (for the sentence) is placed only after citation Citation in the sentence: As Sarah Jones, Bob Smith, and Jim Brown (2009) cited... First and last names of all authors are spelt out “and” is spelt out too Commas are after names Publication year is in parentheses after names When something is in parentheses, it is silent in the sentence Past tense Always Professor Annette Resenhoeft, M.S.

Research Article Citations (2) Citation at end of sentence (remember only paraphrasing): end of sentence (Jones, Smith, & Brown, 2009). These authors literally did the research, so do not need “as cited by”. Only last names of all authors from reference/source. Between the second to last and last name, place an & sign . After the last author’s name type a comma and the year source was published .

As a current student on this bumpy collegiate pathway, I stumbled upon Course Hero, where I can find study resources for nearly all my courses, get online help from tutors 24/7, and even share my old projects, papers, and lecture notes with other students.

The ability to access any university’s resources through Course Hero proved invaluable in my case. I was behind on Tulane coursework and actually used UCLA’s materials to help me move forward and get everything together on time.
