2 Self-Reflection Self-Reflection This video gave me much anxiety. I had no idea of what to expect. I went in with an open mind trying to remember the techniques that I had practiced and studied. Of course, my mind was running 90 miles per hour with so many what if’s. What if I get stuck, what if I cannot reflect probably, what if I just don’t know what to say to move the conversation along. I had to calm my mind down by doing breathing exercises. With the years of experience in counseling, I did not understand why I was so nervous. Maybe it was just the mere fact of being graded and observed, where before I had no one there critiquing me. With, after waiting my turn to play the role of the counselor I just began to encourage myself. When it was my turn, I nervously set down in front of my client pressed the record button and started. As the first minute past, I was engaged in what the client was saying, and my anxiety and nerves were gone away. While having the ability to perfect the non-verbal technique, I found it challenging at certain moments just to sit still and be quiet. There were so many times that I wanted to interject something but understood that it was best to allow the client to talk and express herself. I come from a background of being a fixer and having the need to help. After viewing the video, I noticed that I used several non-verbal skills. When the client began to tell me what was bothering
