EVR1001L-0001 Spring 2018 Lab 1: Easter Island: Carrying Capacity and Sustainability Lab Report Name: Heather Hilaman Date: January 27, 2018 Materials and Methods (20 points): Throughout the lab, population density and sustainability were closely monitored. There was a drastic change on Easter Island throughout the six time periods. The avatar traveled through 900 AD, 1200 AD, 1400 AD, 1500 AD, 1600 AD, and 1800 AD. A time machine was used to send the avatar to each time period. In each time period, two activities were performed. First, one line transect was used for 200 meters to count the number of Mulberry Trees and Palm Trees on the island. Secondly, a drone was used to fly over the civilizations to count the population in different areas. The Easter Island Terminal Screen collected the raw data from each time period and it was recorded. The tree densities were calculated by dividing the number of trees counted in each time period by the area. The numbers were exact and were not rounded.
