Leslie Roach EXSS 101 Ron Blomberg: “An Evening with Ron Blomberg” 2/27/08 I am not much of a baseball fan and I do not know much about Judaism or for that matter, famous Jewish athletes, so needless to say I had no idea who Ron Blomberg was. However, after spending the evening listening to his story I will forever know who he is and his story about being the first designated hitter in the major leagues. Baseball will not be the only thing Blomberg is remembered for, he has a second love, food and his legacy lives on in a certain deli in New York with “the Blomberg”. Though he experienced many trials battles on the baseball field he has never let that get him down and still has a great passion for the sport and always will. He is an inspiration to many and hopes to continue to inspire many as he manages in the new Israeli league over the next years. Growing up blomberg was an outstanding athlete excelling in not only baseball but also basketball and football. Luckily his athleticism kept him from most the woes he witnessed,
