Leslie Roach Period: The End of Menstruation EXSS 101 2/04/08 This documentary shows the two extreme views about menstrual cycles. There are two distinct groups when it comes to the menstrual cycle. One group is pro natural period and pro real period, while the other group is pro pill period, or no period. Each group gives good reasons for both sides, but unfortunately there is just not enough information to make a conclusive decision as to which is the right way to go. Each side poses a risk, or at least discomfort in certain circumstances, as well as a benefit or a positive asset. One solid point the documentary does make with out argument is that the pill or other contraceptive and skipping periods because of the pill or other contraceptive is a relatively new idea and thus there is not much evidence as to what this might cause to happen in the future. One person featured in the film says that we are the lab rats for this experiment and portrays the lack of information we as consumers have and as reason to why we should proceed with caution and or stop using contraceptives as a means to an end (of the menstrual cycle). The anti-contraceptive, pro natural menstrual cycle group gives several reasons to support why women should have their periods as normal, every 4 weeks. They state safety as one of their key issues.
