I moved to America in 1998 when I was 12 years old. When my family got over here my parents asked me what sport I would like to play. I decided to give ice hockey a try to see if this was a sport for me. Turns out it was as I have been playing for almost 10 years now. The hardest thing was trying to find out what all was required to start out with this sport and if it was actually worth all the hard work. (First Visual Aid) Let’s talk about how to get started with the sport of ice hockey and where it could take you. First off, where to start as far as learning to play ice hockey is concerned. There are a number of different roads you can take to learn the basics of hockey. The program you choose depends somewhat on your age. The first class is called rink rats; this class is for kids 3-5 years old, here the kids are taught how to skate forwards and backwards, how to pass, shoot, stickhandle and teamwork. Now if you do not fit into this age category don’t worry because there is another program called hockey
