Dixon Dwayne Dixon Com 110: 33 March 8, 2008 Preparation Outline Getting into Ice Hockey: by Dwayne Dixon GENERAL PURPOSE: To give the audience information and resources to get started with hockey. SPECIFIC PURPOSE: To teach my audience what is required to play hockey and where it could take them. THESIS: How to get started with the sport of ice hockey and where it could take you. Introduction I. Attention-getting device: (Personal Story) I moved to America in 1998 when I was 12 years old. When my family got over here my parents asked me what sport I would like to play. I decided to give ice hockey a try to see if this was a sport for me. Turns out it was as I have been playing for almost 10 years now. The hardest thing was trying to find out what all was required to start out with this sport and if it was actually worth all the hard work. II. Thesis: Let’s talk about how to get started with the sport of ice hockey and where it could take you. III.
