Nathalie Dante Mrs. Payne APUSH 3 rd Block 27 November 2016 The Jacksonian Democrats Jackson’s election was the beginning of the Democrats when they advocated against Clay’s American System and the corrupt bargain of Adam’s presidency. The Democrats left their beliefs in the hands of the people, even when it came to an end during the American Civil War. Nonetheless, during the 1820’s and 30’s, the Democrats’ protected the people’s rights, upheld state power, and destroyed the bank of United States. However, they often fell short in fully completing their goals when they allowed Jackson to abuse his power to veto, assert federal control, and bring down the nation’s economy. Therefore, the works of the Democrats did not fully represented their beliefs and instead moderately protected the interest and power of the common man. Even after the Constitution has stated the rights of the people, attempts to undermine the states has forced the people to form political parties. Parties such as the Democrats had the duty to constitutionally reform abusive actions taken usually by the federal government (A). While the government attempted to assert its power, the people saw to it that their unalienable rights were not taken away. As Democrats asserted to weaken the federal government, their leader, Jackson, abused his
