Yelen Naranjo English 99-0516 Cognitive disorders . Many are the times we find ourselves thinking negatively towards our lives. The science of learning how to put an end to negative thinking can aid in the transformation of one’s relationships and assist them to cope excellently with both anxiety and depression. Bringing information towards one’s cognitive distortions is the primary step towards a balanced mental picture. Cognitive distortion is the consistent error or biasness to the way we think of ourselves, (Grohol, 2016). This concept originated from the cognitive behavioral therapy about how people view themselves and the world around them. It is asserted that there are various ways in which different people may distort their thinking. Such thoughts can make one have problems emotionally or even end up changing their behavior. Such disorders are depression, relationship conflicts, anxiety and low self-esteem. It is recommended for people to think rationally and objectively by shifting their negative viewpoints into strong positive perspectives, (Burns, 1980). Example of cognitive distortions would be statements like “I am not liked by people” or “I am of no help to anyone.”

The ability to access any university’s resources through Course Hero proved invaluable in my case. I was behind on Tulane coursework and actually used UCLA’s materials to help me move forward and get everything together on time.
