HIST: 140 02/12/2018 THE YELLOW WALLPAPER The Yellow Wallpaper is a story which was published in the year 1892. The story is part of the early feminist literature which was illustrating the gender relationships in the society. The story is about husband and wife. Wife is suffering from post-partum depression, and her husband is the one who is administering the medication since he is a physician. These two characters in the story have an essential role in identifying the problems which women undergo in marriages. Husband has been used to portray the authoritarian rule in marriages. John who we husband does not consider any of wife's decision or opinion, and he just rubs it off saying that it is just a silly fantasy (Payne, 2017). With this, wife's fears are not addressed, and she continues to suffer under the care of the husband. Wife's role is to show how oppressed women are in the society. In the story, the woman who is the wife of John suffers from post-partum depression, and she is under the care of her husband.
