Rose 1 Anna Rose Professor Mitchell Written Communication 18 October 2016 How Online Communication Benefits Relationships In modern culture, especially in America, everyone is connected pretty much all of the time. People are constantly checking their phones, whether it be to respond to a text message, send a Snapchat, or even scroll through Instagram. Now , it is almost impossible to really be alone, and most people could not be away from their phone long enough to really experience solidarity. But that brings up the question of is this constant connection as much of a problem as everyone thinks? People need this sort of communication since there are so many opportunities for travel, and most people do not stay in one place for their entire life. Online apps and social media have caused a positive change in the way that people communicate and function within friendships as well as romantic relationships by making it easier to be away from a friend or a partner. There are thousands of people all across America who use social media and other online tools to communicate with their friends and partners while they are far away. Sometimes this distance is temporary, maybe just for a business trip or vacation, but sometimes the lengths of these separations can be drawn out for months or even years, depending on the circumstance. Decades ago, if you moved far away or were going somewhere for a long time you would have to communicate by letter, the occasional phone call, or just give up on the relationship completely. But, with modern technology and all of the glory it offers us, people do not have to
