The Mass Rapid Transit (MRT) Tunnel Project in Singapore History MRT is a rail network system established on 14 October 1983 and regulated by the Land Transport Authority (LTA). City planners led to MRT's existence because they needed a rail-based urban transport. The official launch took place in 1988. The system has four main lines: North-East, East-West, North-South, and Circle. MRT is a major component of Singapore's railway system which has grown rapidly in line with the country's goals and development agenda of a comprehensive rail network. The primary task is to coordinate and control the excavation and construction of tunnels in Singapore. MRT was involved in the building of Singapore's transport system. The network has 106 operational stations and extends to 178.2 kilometres. Tunnel Project Collapse The MRT's tunnel project that constructed underneath and across Nicoll Highway collapsed on April 20, 2004, due to inefficiencies in the construction process. The failure destroyed a section of a 100m section of Nicoll Highway which left a 100 ft. deep cave. The accident caused four deaths and left three injured. An extensive investigation after the accident revealed that the construction of the tunnel was a failed project in its planning and execution. Project Management: Time, Quality, Scope, and Cost Scope and Quality The scope, the functional element of a project, is critical to the success of a project. The range tends to change as the project progresses. A broad range tends to increase cost. The section of the tunnel was a cut-and-cover and constructed by use of bottom up method.

The ability to access any university’s resources through Course Hero proved invaluable in my case. I was behind on Tulane coursework and actually used UCLA’s materials to help me move forward and get everything together on time.
