The acidic levels of the ocean determine whether or not Calcium Carbonate Dissolves. As C02 increases the pH of the ocean decreases which allows the Calcium Carbonate to dissolve. Detritus are dieing leaves and parts of plants. Carbon could be released from the geological cycle to the biological cycle in the form of volcanic eruption.
