Term: What is immersion oil? Definition: Used to displace air between the objective lens and a specimen when using 100x objective, because oil has the same refractive index (measure of speed of light passing through medium) as glass Term: What is contrast? Definition: Has to do with how easily a mixture of cells can be differentiated from each other seen, staining increases contrast but kills microbes Term: What is a dark-field microscope?
