DB FORUM 32One benefit would be obtaining customer interest and loyalty. The growing concern for the protection of our environment has gained momentum. “Consumers are becoming increasingly aware of the availability of green products and some are even willing to pay more for them” (Lin, Lobo, & Leckie, 2017). This surge in consumer interest has show significant benefits to the company’s bottom line and increase in profit margins. Another benefit of ‘going green’ would be government kickbacks. The role of the government allows “economic incentivesto encourage businesses, communities, and regions to reduce pollution, and offer legal and administrative systems for resolving disputes” (Lawrence, 2014). Along with these benefit, we also are able to enjoy cleaner air and water by limiting pollutions and increase in employment opportunity through the clean economy . ChallengesWhile the benefits of ‘going green’ are numerous for the environment and corporation, this act of being conscious is not without struggles and challenges. Although, the role of the government provides a variety of incentives, the cost to the company to become compliant with these regulations are expensive. “Manufactures, mining companies, and utilities spend billions of dollars annually to comply with environmental regulations” (Lawrence, 2014).
