Compressed Work Schedules In this paper, I will argue that compressed work weeks are beneficial for business productivity and the overall well-being of the employees. My motivation for researching this topic is that there are alternative variations to the standard five-day work week that may increase business productivity, which would be beneficial to the economy. Compressed work weeks may also have a positive effect on employee well-being which is important for their life inside and outside of the work environment. I will argue my claim by presenting findings from Working with a Flexible Schedule published in Public Management, chapter two of Flexible Patterns of Work, and Punch out the Time Clocks published in the Harvard Business Review, as well as other scholarly research based documents. To most working people in America, their lives are scheduled around the five-day work week.
