Bryce Philabaum COM 201 Social Experiment 3/2/17 Americans, unlike most other nationalities, enjoy their personal space. We have been taught at a young age to avoid bodily contact with strangers. In most cases, we are taught to not trust them, let alone go into their personal space. As Arona Maskil says in her article, the American culture typically require more personal space than most cultures, and if you invade their space they may feel uneasy and back away. I experienced this first hand after coming to Cincinnati University, and befriended an international student, Tomas, from Chile. He is a super friendly person and loves to talk, but he is also a very touchy person. When speaking to me it is normal for him to lay his hand on me or give a friendly tap after making a joke. I felt a little weird about it at first but quickly learned he did it because of the culture he lived in has influenced his personality, so I cut him slack if it ever happens.

As a current student on this bumpy collegiate pathway, I stumbled upon Course Hero, where I can find study resources for nearly all my courses, get online help from tutors 24/7, and even share my old projects, papers, and lecture notes with other students.

The ability to access any university’s resources through Course Hero proved invaluable in my case. I was behind on Tulane coursework and actually used UCLA’s materials to help me move forward and get everything together on time.
