2TERRI SCHIAVOIntroductionThe bioethics case subject to Terri Schiavo sparked a nationwide controversy as it concerned the need to have Terri’s life ended. A legal battle would then get ignited since there existed misunderstandings between the Florida state and one family bound to two factions. As a result, Terri Schiavo’s case attracted focus from the US Congress. Meanwhile, Schiavo’s case affected the healthcare industry as revealed through various topics such as MOLST laws, euthanasia concerns, the essence of living wills, and the enforcement of prior directives. The controversial case relating to Schiavo took fifteen years since 1990, a time when Terri succumbed to immense brain damage. Medical records point the twenty-fifth of February 1990 as the time when a cardiac arrest attacked Terri Schiavo at her hood in St. Petersburg, a region in Florida. Terri’s husband placed a 911 call, and the emergency team responded promptlyto Schiavo’s rescue (Clyde, 2014). However, Schiavo had remarkably suffered massive damage on her brain from the influence of hypoxia. Terri would then resort to a biological complication of the mind, the persistent vegetative state until her ultimate demise in 2005.
